Latest Updates from Our Project:

Day two and our first funding goal is met! So what's next?
3 months ago – Fri, Sep 06, 2024 at 02:43:36 PM

It's day two of Booktopia, and I'm pleased to announce that we met the minimum funding goal.

This is where crowdfunding can be a little confusing. Does this mean it's over? What are you going to do for the next several weeks?

Well-- here's what meeting our initial funding goal early does. It allows us to HAVE SOME FUN!

Since crowdfunding is all or nothing, meeting the goal means we can keep what we have and move forward with the project, but exceeding the goal can make some truly amazing things happen!

I have lots of plans, but let's roll out one at a time.

If we can hit $3,000 (and I know we can) I will create an amazing, kid-friendly poster that teaches kids about the 3/3/3 rule and ways to make dogs feel welcome. It will be in kid-friendly language, with funny characters from The Odd Dog collection. I will produce both a physical poster, and put it on the back of dust jacket.

Just think-- now the dust jacket can serve a higher purpose!

This poster will be one more tool in our arsenal to teach kids and young families about the 3/3/3 rule. If you're in, please help by sharing the campaign out. Also, if you haven't pledged yet, please consider doing so! Every pledge counts, and every new backer encourages someone else to give the project a shot.

Oh! Let's have a quick PSA before I leave.

I'm honored to cross-collab with Nocola Williams, a dear friend and fellow author, on her new book, Bugzee and the Bees. This book is beautiful, educational, and FUN! If you haven't yet, please check it out and support her by backing and/or sharing.

Not only are you supporting minority representation in the beekeeping sphere, you will receive some swag for your troubles!

If you support both campaigns, you'll get an exclusive greeting card with our characters. Can you say cuteness overload? As an added bonus, its profound message will remind of you four other queen bees from the 80s.

Thanks, as always, for listening! Please check out Nocola's campaign, keep sharing this one, and please take a moment to give your voice to the poll below.

Have a wonderful weekend, and thank you for your support!

The Odd Dog's Guide launches TODAY! Here's what you need to know.

Hi everyone!

Welcome to the beginning of BOOKTOPIA, an epic 21-day campaign involving more than 50 authors! Over the next few weeks, you'll read a lot about The Odd Dog's Guide to Making Friends. Here are some of the highlights:

1) Every physical tier ($17+) has the option to donate books to shelters and rescues throughout the country. We have a wonderful group of partners ready to use these books for their education, fundraising, and advocacy efforts, so let's make this count! By pledging early and sharing often, you can help bring this book to life.

I have some cool bonuses in my back pocket too, but those will only come out if we keep moving! I'll be showcasing our partners over the next few weeks so you can decide who gets the extra copies you so generously donate!

2) I'm offering the ability to get your dog drawn into the book as an extra character! I will be limiting it a bit, however. In The Odd Dog, there were more than 40 real dogs, and that was.. a lot. SO-- if you want your dog included, pledge early and save your spot!

3) Please consider backing my cross-collab partner, Nocola's, amazing campaign for Bugzee and the Bees. I'll be talking about her in later updates, but here's a sneak peek: she is an expert educator, awesome author, and bodacious beekeeper who wants to bring minority representation to beekeeping.

If you back both campaigns, you'll get a limited edition greeting card with both our main characters. Can you say BEEutiful?

In summary-- back the campaign, share it out, and support two great missions! What more could you ask for, honestly!

Thanks for listening, and I look forward to sharing more stories with you!
